Dissolved oxygen

The amount of oxygen dissolved in water, the most fundamental indicator of aquatic ecosystem health and treatment process performance.

Dissolved oxygen (DO) sustains nearly all aquatic life and drives the aerobic biological processes used in wastewater treatment. Its saturation depends on temperature, salinity, and atmospheric pressure, so modern optical sensors report both concentration (mg/L) and percent saturation (%). Continuous DO monitoring captures dawn minima, typically the most stressful condition of the day, that grab samples taken during business hours miss entirely. DO is useful in most applications from HAB monitoring to source water, and critical in many.
