Oil-in-water

Optical detection of hydrocarbons in water, fluorescence-based, no reagents.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in crude oil, fuels, and produced water fluoresce when excited by UV light. This makes optical oil-in-water sensors a fast, reagent-free way to detect leaks, monitor produced-water discharge, and protect drinking-water intakes downstream of industrial activity or transportation corridors. The signal is a leading indicator: minute-level alerts long before a sheen is visible or a lab confirms contamination.
