Temperature
Water temperature, the master variable that controls solubility, reaction rates, and biological activity.
Temperature affects almost every other parameter on this page: DO saturation, pH, conductivity compensation, reaction kinetics, microbial growth, and the metabolism of every aquatic organism. It also drives thermal stratification in lakes and reservoirs, which in turn governs nutrient cycling and bloom dynamics. Continuous temperature profiling is therefore foundational rather than supplementary.
