The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded AquaRealTime a $400,000 grant for phase II of their Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program to further advance and commercialize the AlgaeTracker. About the award, EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan said, “Your work is essential to helping us achieve our goal of creating healthy, clean, and safe environments for all Americans.” The total grant has provided $500,000 in non-dilutive financial resources. A further $100,000 Commercialization grant is expected pending fulfillment of commercialization milestones.
The EPA is one of 11 federal agencies that participate in the SBIR program, a competitive program that supports small businesses in the development and commercialization of technological solutions. This program stimulates the economy while assisting the country in meeting its research and development needs.
AquaRealTime’s real time early detection system for HABs and other water contamination enables stakeholders to prevent blooms, protect citizens and isolate toxic water.
